What would you do if someone went through your phone without looking? 

Your phone is an exceedingly private place. It's where your whole life lands. It's where you correspond with people, where you make plans, where you write down your deepest, darkest thoughts. It's where you talk smack about others behind their backs, and it's where you confess secret crushes. If someone has access to your phone, they might as well have access to your full psyche. So it's no wonder that you would want to keep that to yourself, especially around people you don't know that well. Even more so in a dating context. When you're first getting to know someone, there are probably things you want to keep from them. Not in a malicious way, just in a polite and private way. You're entitled to your own boundaries, and you don't need to cross them just to keep someone else happy.

    EDIT: adding that the notification was from earlier that day in the morning, he had to have scrolled through my notifications. There was no notification from the app that came through during our time together.

  • But sometimes you meet someone who doesn't give you a choice. They're going to break your boundaries whether you like it or not, and you probably don't like it.     At 4 dates, this person is still a stranger. To expect someone to give up their boundaries at 4 dates is insane. And the fact that they didn't ask or tell you, but "snuck" it and then probably intentionally dropped the comment to freak you out. This person is terrible news.

    They went into reading it with some sort of expectations or need to find "evidence" Block them immediately. Don't tell them why, don't engage, don't wait for them to make comments about it. Just block them everywhere.
